A Falsehood

Moody Moody

Chapter 1

Today is the happiest day for me. Every second of it is filled with joy. I don't know why this feeling is so tingling in my body. People might call me the luckiest kid in the world because everything I get is so easy and seems abundant. Deep down, I want to be like this forever. Family and even friends, they are all by my side and will never let go of my grasp. On this bright day, it's time to go to work. It all started from that moment. The moment I graduated from junior high school and then continued on to the next level. All the support I received made me feel like I was flying. An extraordinary beginning. When I first set foot in the real world, all eyes were on me and it made me feel like I was walking like a model on the red carpet. Some of them showed such stunning admiration that I blushed at their reactions. On the other hand, they also seemed to be watching me even when I was silent. The world seemed to be focused on me alone. Everything that happened made me feel nervous and never stopped feeling happy. The expressions I saw on them really energized me and even made me feel alive.
“Hello, may I introduce myself?” said a girl who came up to me. She looked beautiful and also seemed like a good kid.
"Of course."
"What's your name?"
“Firentia Schubert. Just call me by my first name.”
“Okay. Let me introduce myself, my name is Monalisa Azura. Just call me Mona. Can we be friends from now on?”
“Mona, yes. Okay. Of course, let's be friends.”
"Okay."
“Oh yeah. Is everyone watching the show today?”
“Yeah. I heard that too. Hey, are you not interested in the show at all? I just saw you here all alone.”
“Actually, I don't really like opera. Sorry.”
“No wonder. I’m the same.”
"Really?"
“Yeah. I don’t think it’s my cup of tea, even though they say it’s exciting, it’s still just a boring show for me.”
"Wow, it turns out we have the same thoughts."
“Right. That's really funny, isn't it?”
“Are you also in the same class as me?”
“Wait a minute, I haven't seen it yet.”
"How?"
"Wow, it turns out we're in the same class."
“Really? I'm so happy.”
"Do you think classical literature is fun?"
“I think it will be fun considering there are so many things I want to learn.”
“Really? What is it?”
"The reason is quite simple. Because I love medieval stories that showcase the uniqueness of that era. I've been fascinated since school and, without realizing it, joined the classical literature club."
"That's right. Enthusiasm."
“Thank you. How about you?”
"For me, it was just for fun. I thought I could avoid the calculations that make me nauseous."
“Do you hate math?”
"It's not just that I hate it, I also don't want to deal with it. It's a pain, isn't it?"
“I don't think so. Everyone has the right to decide what they want. So it's not a bad thing.”
“You are very kind, Firentia?”
“Don’t think about it, just do what you want, Mona.”
“Right. Thank you for your support, good people.”
"Of course."
The two of them seemed to get along well in no time. Among all the people in the class, it seemed they were the only ones who looked different and even stood out in every aspect compared to the others. Many people were paying attention to them because they were stunned by the beauty of both of them who looked like goddesses. Some people said that they were both goddesses in the department because no one could match their charm. Besides, one of the people who knew them, she looked ordinary and the person in question was none other than the nerdy bespectacled girl who didn't care about anything in front of her. During the class, everyone in the room never stopped looking at the two of them. And again, it seemed that the two of them didn't care at all about what was happening in the class and only continued to focus on what was in front of them.
"Finally class is over," said Mona, feeling relieved.
“Right. I thought this would take a long time.”
“Don't you think it's boring?”
"Boring?"
“Yes. If you look at it again, it's always like this. Aren't you fed up?”
“Actually, I don't care about that. The important thing is that today went well.”
“What is that? You look happy, apparently.”
“Really? Does it look clear enough?”
“Yes. Very clear.”
“Are you going to the cafeteria?”
"Too much."
Behind this happy day, there are many unforgettable memories. During their time in this place, Firentia Schubert, a foreigner, had just moved to this city. Her family had moved there on purpose due to urgent matters. They had faked the reality to Firentia, as if everything that had happened to her and even her family was extraordinary luck. She didn't realize anything and was happy like everyone else. At this moment, she and Mona were in the cafeteria and seemed to be talking a lot about something. Just like before, several people continued to stare at them with gazes of admiration, and quite a few even began to show interest and approached them. They seemed normal and greeted people who approached them in a friendly manner. This expected reaction made some of those people continue to follow them, which ultimately annoyed Mona.
“How long are you going to follow us?” Mona asked the two boys behind them.
"Eh? They're following us?" Florentia said with a little surprise.
“Ah, we just happened to pass by the same place and yeah, that's it.”
“Yes. We just happened to be there. Don’t joke around like that, Mona.”
"Go there."
"Eh?"
“You guys are just annoying.”
“Wait a minute, what are you talking about? We already told you it was just a coincidence. So, it's no big deal, right?”
“Stop it.”
"What?"
"Didn't you hear me? I said stop," Mona said firmly, then invited Firentia to leave.
“Wow, so fierce.”
"It seems like he's really bothered. We should probably just go."
The two people also left. And in one corner of the corridor, it turned out that the girl with glasses had witnessed the incident and she just silently observed the tense situation from a distance. After that, she walked towards somewhere and not long after, she began to look at the two of them with a look that seemed curious. The girl with glasses continued walking towards her destination. Meanwhile, the two people were seen with their friends.
